In place of an elaborate beauty routine, Shakira says she has a straightforward approach to maintaining her radiant complexion. The 47-year-old superstar recently shared with Allure what she does for skin care and it’s so DIY it tracks with the star’s effortless approach.
“I don’t do a lot of shit,” Shakira said. What she does do is hydrate. The star shared that her favorite treatment is giving herself a vigorous facial massage to stimulate blood flow.
“I hydrate with marula oil and hyaluronic acid. And when I have an appearance, I do the craziest thing. I massage my face and neck very vigorously because I believe that circulation, the irrigation of blood to the skin and muscles, can rejuvenate, so I look more plumped,” says the star.
Marula oil, derived from the marula tree native to Africa, is rich in antioxidants and fatty acids, providing nourishment and protection against environmental stressors. Meanwhile, hyaluronic acid, a humectant naturally found in the skin, attracts and retains water molecules, ensuring optimal hydration levels.
The She-Wolf’s concept of facial massage as a skin-care technique is not novel and often a staple of luxe facial treatments. By enhancing circulation through massage, she facilitates the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the skin, fostering a healthy and vibrant complexion from within. This natural approach to skin care aligns with the Colombian singer’s holistic approach to life.
When it comes to her famous hair, the star says she goes DIY in that department as well. The star adds she’s never found anything that can fight the frizz so she developed her own hair product for her curls, but only said this: “I went to a lab and developed my own products for myself, my own line. Maybe one day I’ll share my secret.” We can’t wait.
